Salary Range: $121,500 to $157,500

 

The University of St. Thomas has provided a salary range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The specific salary offered will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.

 

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the VP/Director of Athletics, this position is broadly responsible for the internal operations for intercollegiate athletics, including assigned sports administration, the intramural and campus recreational programs, ticketing sales/service/operations, video production, event and championship management, athletics catering/concessions, the athletic facilities of the university, and athletics capital planning. Additionally, this position will have oversight responsibility for the new Lee & Penny Anderson Arena, including the General Manager and associated operational and revenue lines. Strategic leadership and vision, modernization of operations and systems, and effective management of staff and programs are key areas of responsibility. This position is responsible for the financial and budget activities related to the aforementioned, including revenue generation related to facilities utilization, as well as the supervision of direct reports connected with all areas of responsibility including equipment, facilities and event management. This position will collaborate and work effectively with campus partners and coaching staff.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

Facilities & Capital Projects Management

Strategic oversight and management of all athletic facilities: Anderson Athletic & Recreation Complex, McCarthy Gym, South Field and North Field. Including management of facility equipment repair, equipment replacement, capital projects and improvements, scheduling, building operation procedures, depreciation and maintenance.

 

Game Day Events/Ticketing Operations/Video Operations

Oversees team with responsibility for the complete operations and ticketing of home events. Submit bids, plans and coordinates support services and execution of assigned league and NCAA post-season events. Perform and oversee duties such as enforce health, fire safety and other facility regulations, perform crowd control and ensure safety of fans and game personnel including teams, coaches and officials. Ensure compliance within game day events with all relevant institutional, conference and NCAA rules.

 

Facility Revenue Programs

Develop, manage and execute creative revenue programs related to athletic facilities. Including establishment of budget goals and management of programs. Areas of focus include Anderson and Recreation facility memberships, locker rentals, fitness classes, guest passes and rentals, and new revenue generation initiatives.

 

Concessions/Intramurals/Team Equipment

Manage team responsible for facility concession, both home athletics contests and rentals with applicable. Ensure quality offering for fall and spring intramural programs, supporting all students. Lead the equipment room and staff to provide quality customer service, event set-up and equipment goals for all 21-varsity sport teams.

 

Sport Administration

Serve as the primary sport administration manager, ensuring leadership continuity and application of sport administration programs. Supervise coaches and the day-to-day management of assigned intercollegiate teams. This includes performance evaluation, monitoring eligibility and compliance with NCAA and conference rules, regular monitoring of the student-athlete experience, and effective relationship management with all appropriate internal and external stakeholders.

 

Lee & Penny Anderson Arena

Work closely with General Manager of Lee & Penny Anderson Arena to ensure operational excellence and revenue production. This includes managing partnership contracts with Food & Beverage, Merchandise, and Safe/Security partners. Operating systems, incremental revenue initiatives, and other strategic venue uses with campus/community/entertainment stakeholders are key priorities.

 

Other duties as assigned by the VP/Director of Athletics

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Seven years of experience in athletic operations management, preferably at the collegiate level
  • A DMV background check is required for this position

An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may be substituted.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
