Salary Range: $43,535 to $65,000

 

The University of St. Thomas has provided a salary range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The specific salary offered will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.

 

JOB SUMMARY

The Assistant Athletic Director of Marketing and Promotions for the University of St. Thomas Intercollegiate Athletics Department is responsible for creating and implementing marketing and promotion plans for all 21 intercollegiate athletic programs. This position is responsible for creating a first-class in-venue

experience for all student-athletes, coaches and spectators at all St. Thomas Intercollegiate Athletics events. This role will be also be focused driving ticket sales to meet stated revenue goals. Provide direct supervision to the Assistant Director of Marketing and all of Spirit area leaders (e.g. Pep Band, Dance Team, Cheerleading, Mascot).

 

Additionally, this position will coordinate student staffing for athletics department marketing and game presentation. The ideal incumbent will have a strong background in sports marketing, fan engagement, and revenue generation, with a passion for promoting Division I athletics and enhancing the fan experience.

 

The position reports directly to the Deputy Athletic Director.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Development and implementation of marketing strategies to drive revenue
    • Work to develop plans to maximize exposure, drive attendance and enhance revenue for all ticketed University of St. Thomas programs.
    • Work directly with related entities including administration, coaches, operations staff, event management, key campus contacts and student work force to develop and implement a fan activation and game presentation plan for each sport.
  •  Administration and Staff Supervision
    • Have direct oversight of all spirit activities including University of St. Thomas Dance, Cheer, and Mascot Programs. Responsible for all aspects of these program including but not limited to budgeting, head coach evaluation, and student-athlete well-being. This position will also directly supervise the Assistant Director of Marketing.
  •  Campus and community partnerships
    • Serve as the lead athletic department point of contact to assigned campus and student organizations to support athletics initiatives.
    • Drive engagement with athletics through various student, faculty/staff, alumni and community groups.
  •  Special event development and implementation
    • Develop and execute special events to create engagement with St Thomas athletics. These events include open houses, spring games, pep rallies and other events to draw in students, alumni, faculty/staff and general public. Coordinate activation of Spirit Squad, mascot, coaches, student athletes and administration at special events.
  •  Strategic collaboration
    • Work to develop strong working relationships with ticket office, event management, business ops, sport operations directors, coaches and others to help meet business objectives around ticket sales, game presentation and fan engagement.
  • Other duties as assigned
    • Support day-to-day operations of the Marketing department including some budget work (invoices, tracking, reconciliation), campus outreach and other general marketing coordination.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Four years of professional marketing experience, preferably in athletics

An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may be substituted.
