Salary Range: $65,000 - $76,580

 

The University of St. Thomas has provided a salary range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The specific salary offered will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.

 

JOB SUMMARY

The Digital Designer is a mid-level, digitally native creative who transforms brand and business objectives into high-impact, mobile-first and responsive digital experiences— these include assets such as graphics that will be used in social media, web pages, email, motion files, presentations, and others—while simultaneously helping to shape the strategic vision that drives marketing results. Reporting to the AVP of Creative/Creative Director and partnering with Art Directors, UX Practitioners, Marketing Directors, and Project Managers, this designer delivers pixel-perfect, ADA- compliant visuals that accelerate campaigns, safeguard brand consistency, and boost conversion. They will also build scalable content templates in tools such as Adobe Express, Canva and others, and coach non-designers on creating on-brand deliverables, elevating creative quality across the organization.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Lead or participate in kickoff meetings to interrogate creative briefs—clarifying audience insight, strategic goals, and required outcomes before design begins.
  • Co-develop timely, insight-driven concepts alone or with an assigned Art Directors or Copywriter, iterating rapidly in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary setting.
  • Apply St. Thomas’ brand voice in designing persuasive channel-specific assets for web, email, social, and digital newsletters.
  • Present, revise, and finalize design in response to stakeholder feedback, upholding brand standards while juggling multiple concurrent projects.
  • Cultivate and maintain deep knowledge of every academic college, school, and institutional initiative, ensuring design related to each is accurate, resonant, and differentiated.
  • Help organize, implement then teach use of design templates (i.e. Canva).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field

  • Five years of professional social and web design experience demonstrating fluency in typography, color theory, grid systems, responsive UX, and the disciplined application of style

  • A robust online portfolio

A combination of education and experience in Graphic, Digital, or Interactive Design may be substituted.
