JOB SUMMARY
The Ice Technician is responsible for the preparation, maintenance, and quality control of multiple ice sheets in the Lee and Penny Anderson Arena, including the Tommie Ice Plex (auxiliary hockey rink). This role ensures optimal ice conditions that meet or exceed NCAA and sport specific performance standards. The ideal candidate is experienced in ice resurfacing, equipment maintenance, ice plant monitoring and maintenance, ice making and removal operations, dasher board installation-removal-maintenance, and ice resurfacing machine operation and maintenance, with a strong understanding of the demands of high-performance environments. The position plays a key role in the safe, clean, and welcoming environment of the facility for all patrons and staff while upholding high customer service standards and pursuing operational excellence.
This position requires a mix of creativity, analytical thinking, and effective communication to succeed in a fast-paced environment. It offers a fantastic opportunity to combine a passion for sports, event execution, and personnel/facility management with skills in ice rink operations, managing/training staff, customer service, and facility operations. The Ice Technician will work with the Operations Manager and Supervisor to develop facility policies, staff scheduling plans, provide feedback on facility use schedules (which includes intercollegiate athletics, youth ice hockey, public skating, various external events, etc.), develop and execute equipment maintenance schedules, and play a key role with the overall operating plan of the Lee and Penny Anderson Arena.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in sports management, recreation management, facility management, or a related field
Proficiency with ice resurfacing equipment and rink refrigeration systems
Knowledge of NCAA and/or professional ice surface standards
Experience with facility management and/or ice rink operations (ideally within an intercollegiate athletics hockey and/or multipurpose facility)
An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may be substituted.
