Salary Range: $34.93 to $44.95 an hour

JOB SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides one on one clinical interview, assessment, intervention, and referral of students with health & wellness concerns. The RN is responsible for overseeing inventory of clinical and pharmaceutical supplies, lab equipment, and patient education supplies. The RN fosters strong, collaborative relationships with staff within the partner areas in the Center for Well-Being and with individuals inside and outside the university, ensuring a cohesive and supportive environment for student health and wellness. The Center for Well-Being offers an integrated model of care, providing a comprehensive array of health, mental health, and well-being services to support the holistic needs of the university community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Provide clinical health services; physical and emotional assessment, intervention, referral, and follow-up to students, according to ANA guidelines and Health Services (HS) Standing Orders.
a. Remain current on medical advances & standards of care by attending professional seminars & reading medical and health journals.
b. Maintain knowledge and accountability for understanding and following Health Service policies, procedures and standing orders.
c. Maintain current CPR certification and emergency response readiness.
d. Provide accurate documentation and communication with all patient encounters and phone calls, maintaining confidentiality as defined by HIPAA and FERPA privacy laws.
2. Triage incoming calls and walk-ins to assist in getting patients to appropriate level of care.
3. Maintain the optimum flow of patients through the clinic by rooming, documenting vital signs, chief complaint, current medications, and allergies. Maintain open lines of communication among clinical, clerical, and professional staff.
4. Optimize clinical accuracy and efficiency in logistics/operations, including:
a. Maintain prepackaged pharmacy, sample drug inventory and log system to accurately account for utilization of medications.
b. Assist with inventory and ordering of supplies and pharmaceutical drugs.
c. Oversee the laboratory control testing for all CLIA -waived tests as well as laboratory equipment logs when MA is not available. Performs CLIA-waived lab testing.
5. Assist students in identifying appropriate referrals for specific health insurance utilization needs.
6. Perform injections (primarily allergy and immunization) per protocol.
7. Facilitate all medication refill orders communicating with provider, patient and pharmacy as indicated.
8. Coordinate monitoring and communication of required immunizations, TB testing and monitoring and education according to CDC, State of MN, & Health Services guidelines
9. Perform SANE exams, if previously trained, for patients who have experienced sexual assault.
