Salary Range: $57,000 to $67,000

The specific salary offered will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.
JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Head Football Coach, the Special Teams Coordinator/Defensive Assistant Coach assists with the management of the football program. Emphasis will be placed on recruitment, mentoring student athletes, and assisting with practices to include planning and skill development. The Special Teams Coordinator/Defensive Assistant Coach assists the Head Football Coach in representation of the football program at intercollegiate athletics, alumni, University, booster club, and fundraising events as needed. This position requires you to work evenings and weekends and will require travel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Student-Athlete Skill Development, Technique and Mentorship
Develop the specialist and defensive position group athletically and mentally so that they can maximize their potential as players. In addition, be an active participant in their development off the field. This includes, but is not limited to, academically, emotionally, and socially.
Recruiting
Evaluate, rank, and recruit local, regional, national, and international specialists and defensive players at your position. Evaluate and recruit all position players within your assigned recruiting areas. Establish and cultivate relationships with high school and junior college coaches in your recruiting areas. Participate in the planning and execution of unofficial and official recruiting visits.
Practice, Game Planning and Game Strategy
Assist the defensive coordinator in practice preparation with the organization of defensive position drills, player reps and player rotations. Plan and organize the practice and game preparation of the special teams units. In addition, coordinate the special teams units on game day. Evaluate the opponent’s offensive personnel and assist in creating a weekly game plan. Evaluate the opponent’s special teams personnel and create a game plan to exploit their weaknesses.
Administrative
Assist the Head Football Coach by attending intercollegiate athletics, alumni, university, booster club and fundraising events. Work with the Sports Information Director to participate in approved media request.
Other Duties as Assigned
Assist and/or complete other duties that may be assigned by the VP and Director of Athletics, Football Sport Administrator or Head Football Coach.
