OVERVIEW

The University of St. Thomas invites qualified candidates to apply for an On-Call Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant in the Center for Well-Being.

 

This is an on-call, hourly position helping to cover shifts for regular employees (out on vacation, illness, etc.).  Shifts are Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm but can vary from month to month, depending on the needs of the clinic.  Depending on staffing levels, we may need providers for a few days or up to a week or longer.

 

Pay Range: $49.00-59.74/hr

JOB SUMMARY

This position exists to provide direct patient care to the University of St. Thomas students in the Health Services (HS) in compliance with all medical state licensure, federal mandates and institutional practice agreement standards. The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant performs health histories, physical examinations, order lab tests and x-ray exams, prescribe treatments & medications, assures adequate follow-up, obtains consultation or referrals as required, follow standardized charting procedures.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provide safe, high quality and cost-effective health care and health promotion.

 

The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant practice will consist of:

  • Provides assessment, diagnosis and treatment of health conditions of patients, utilizing established protocols, guidelines and standards of care.
  • Assessment of psychosocial issues, providing counseling within scope of practice, and making referrals as necessary both on and off campus.
  • Establishes and documents plan of care with complete documentation in accordance with guidelines and standards of practice, using the electronic medical record system.
  • Works independently in the clinical setting, and able to work collaboratively with Center for Well-Being staff and a variety of University of St. Thomas departments, to facilitate a comprehensive experience for all students, faculty and staff.
  • Understands supports and complies with the policies and procedures of the University of St. Thomas, Center for Well-Being, and Health Services. 
  • Administers urgent care and assists in contacting University Public Safety, paramedics and emergency transport when necessary.
  • Functions as a mentor and resource for Registered Nurses, Medical Assistants, and support staff to ensure quality of care standards are maintained.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative and sensitive working relationships with a diverse, multicultural population and campus community
  • Performs other related duties supporting the daily operation of Health Services and Center for Well-Being as assigned.
  • Adheres to HIPAA policies and procedures. Ensure that all policies and procedures function in accordance with state and federal law

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

  • For the Nurse Practitioner:
    • MS, MSN or MA with ANCC or AANPCB Nurse Practitioner Certification: Family or Adult

    • Current RN and APRN licensure per the MN Board of Nursing

    • Current DEA

  • For the Physicians Assistant:
    • Physician Assistant certification by the NCCPA Certification Board

    • MN Medical Board license

    • Current DEA
