Salary Range: $44,600 to $53,780

 

The University of St. Thomas has provided a salary range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The specific salary offered will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.

 

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Head Volleyball Coach, this position is responsible for, but not limited to recruitment, video analysis, skill development of student athletes, game/practice planning, team nutrition, community service projects, scouting reports and day to day program administrative duties. Specific emphasis on recruiting and practice planning. This position will work collaboratively with Head Coach and volleyball staff in developing a competitive Division 1 program.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Recruiting
    • Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes - local, regional, national, and international.  Establish and cultivate relationships with high school coaches. Participate in the planning and execution of unofficial and official recruiting visits. Maintain and manage recruiting logs and contact dates/times.
  • Student-Athlete skill development, technique & mentorship
    • Assist in the instruction, assessment, and growth of volleyball student-athlete skill development. Assist in implementation and management of academic progress. Serve as an active participant in student-athlete progress off the court in a holistic approach.
  • Video
    • Manage and execute all video program needs under the platforms of Hudl and VolleyMetrics. Work in partnership with ITS and the Summit League office to comply with the execution of team video usage and sharing. 
  • Administrative
    • Work collaboratively with head coach, medical support staff and campus nutritionist on team nutrition. Contribute to the management and requesting of program annual operating budget. Help communicate with alums and community members on fan engagement. Help with organizing of annual community service project and banquet.  Be able to log compliance forms and attend compliance educational sessions. Responsible for following compliance with NCAA, Conference, and Institutional rules.
  • Practice, match planning and match strategy
    • Organize, administer, and demonstrate all aspects of team practice. Assist in practice and match strategy. Prepare for matches involving video breakdown and analysis. Maintain practice records in accordance with NCAA and conference guidelines.
  • Monitor social media and help create content if needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by head coach

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Three years of relevant coaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level
  • A DMV background check is required for this role.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience playing and/or coaching and recruiting at the collegiate level
  • Knowledge of NCAA and conference compliance rules and regulations
  • The use of technology and software related to the work to include Microsoft Office Suite, all social media platforms, and volleyball data specifically Volley Metrics, VolleyStation and Hudl

An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may be substituted.
