JOB SUMMARY

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides one on one clinical interview, assessment, intervention and referral of students with health & wellness concerns. The RN is responsible for overseeing inventory of clinical and pharmaceutical supplies, lab equipment, and patient education supplies. The RN maintains collaboration with office personnel and professional staff within and outside of the university.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide clinical health services; physical and emotional assessment, intervention, referral and follow-up to students, according to ANA guidelines and Health Services (HS) Standing Orders. Maintain the optimum flow of patients through the clinic by rooming, documenting vital signs, chief complaint, current medications and allergies. Facilitate all medication refill orders communicating with provider, patient and pharmacy as indicated. Assist students in identifying appropriate referrals for specific health insurance utilization needs.
  • Triage incoming student calls including for COVID symptoms, assist in contact tracing as necessary
  • Coordinate monitoring and communication of required immunizations, TB testing and monitoring and education according to CDC, State of MN, & Health Services guidelines.
  • Perform SANE exams, depending on training and ability to perform exams
  • Provide accurate, HIPAA compliant documentation and communication with all patient encounters and phone calls.
  • Maintain prepackaged pharmacy, sample drug inventory and log system to accurately account for utilization of medications. Supervises inventory and ordering of supplies and pharmaceutical drugs. Oversees the laboratory control testing for all CLIA -waived tests as well as laboratory equipment logs when MA is not available. Performs CLIA-waived lab testing when MA is not available.
  • Remain current on medical advances & standards of care by attending professional seminars & reading medical and health journals. Maintain knowledge and accountability for understanding and following Health Service policies, procedures and standing orders. Maintain current CPR certification and emergency response readiness.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current Minnesota RN licensure
  • CPR certification
  • Minimum of one year of previous clinic experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • BSN
  • College health experience
  • Completion of SANE-A nursing training
  • Phlebotomy skills or willingness to learn phlebotomy skills
