The Accommodations & Assistive Technology Specialist exists to support the office of Disability Resources to ensure equal access for students, guests, and visitors with disabilities. The person in this position coordinates the accommodations offered through Disability Resources, promotes its services to the campus and community, and provides ongoing training to students and the broader campus community regarding the ADAAA and assistive technology. The overall purpose of this job is to assist in providing quality services to students with disabilities to allow them equal access to all university programs and activities.
Disability Resources is the unit in the university responsible for coordinating and leading compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act regarding accommodations for students, guests, and visitors with disabilities. The department is responsible for providing all classroom, residence hall, and event accommodations. The university is required by federal legislation, the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA) and Section 504, to provide services specifically outlined as accommodations for students with disabilities.
