The Assistant Director leads signature programs to support the retention and graduation rates of undergraduate students of color. S/he directs the Reaching Excellence in Academics and Leadership (REAL) Program, Linkages Mentor Program, and Dease Scholarship Program. In each of these areas, the Assistant Director manages all aspects of program planning, budgeting, implementation, and assessment. This includes the supervision of REAL Program Peer Advisors and Linkages Mentor Program Interns. The Assistant Director works closely with colleagues in academic affairs to monitor academic progress and graduation of students of color including all present and former cohorts of the REAL Program, Linkages Mentor Program, and Dease Scholarship Program and the DFC transitioning scholars. The Assistant Director leads the evolution of the network, aimed at bringing together students of color, faculty/staff of color, and allies and members of the LGBTQ community. The Assistant Director also leads assessment initiatives for the department. The Assistant Director reports to the Executive Director of Campus Inclusion and Community. Student Diversity & Inclusion Services is a department reporting to the Executive Director of Campus Inclusion and Community within the Division of Student Affairs.
