    The University of St. Thomas invites qualified candidates to apply for a Dishwasher/Food Service Worker position within the Dining Services Department.

     

    This position works 40 hours a week, nine months out of the year.

    JOB SUMMARY

    The Dishwasher/Food Service Worker primary responsibility is to wash dishes and perpare food for the east and west serving lines to University of St. Thomas and School of Divinity students and guests. Follow the Department of Health cleaning regulations for their work station.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Dishwashing:

    • Operate the dish machine, providing clean, sanitary dishes, flatware, pots, pans, utensils and equipment. This includes monitoring temperature controls, chemical levels, being familiar with the various chemicals and proper installation of them.
    • Keep the dish machine clean and report problems to supervisor immediately. Monitor and record temperatures and refill and clean the machine as directed.
    • Correct usage of three compartment sink – wash, rinse, sanitize – so as to minimize the amount of food waste in the machine.
    • Keep dish room and dish machine clean and organized, properly storing all tableware and kitchen items.
    • Assist in kitchen with some food preparation and putting away some goods and products.
    • Remove trash, discard boxes, and bring recycling to the proper areas.
    • Ensure food waste is captured in the hog buckets and the hog buckets are brought down to the proper location when full or at the end of the night.

    Serving and Food Prep:

    • Serve food to student and guest from east and west serving lines.                                                                  
    • Retrieve food and supplies from the prep area and set up serving line.
    • Serve food to students using the proper portion controls  
    • Stock serving lines with all necessary food and equipment
    • Prepare items for salad bar and catered events
    • Prepare food items, follow recipes and setup salad bar for student and catered events
    • Maintain a clean presentation area.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Qualifications

    • High school diploma or accepted equivalent and one year of experience in food operations.
