    The Director of Web Development & Strategy reports to the Associate Vice President for Marketing Strategy and is responsible for planning, developing, executing, prioritizing and coordinating the web strategy as an integral part of the University’s marketing function. Drawing from the University’s mission and strategic priorities, the Director of Web Development & Strategy will provide leadership in ensuring strong strategic thinking and a best in class user experience for the University’s online presence (internal and external). This role requires in-depth technical knowledge and a diverse website strategy skillset with a track record of success and thought leadership in content strategy and management, usability, training, governance, and overall maintenance. This position has oversight for the Web Development team including two Digital Project Managers and their direct reports.



    • Develop and execute website development roadmap across a 3-5 year time horizon. Ensure alignment with University strategic priorities and integration with other marketing channels and vehicles.
    • Oversee internal and external websites to maximize design, development, information accessibility, architecture (IA), user experience (UX), marketing content and integration with other digital platforms.
    • Develop and manage a governance process and structure. Ensure users have appropriate access to the University websites so that content can be refreshed and is always current and accurate. Oversees training of website contributors across the University.
    • Monitor digital trend report tracking and identification of impactful opportunities for the University. Partner with analytics team to select, implement and manage web performance tools and procedures.
    • Collaborate with and manages internal University partners, such as Information Technology Services (ITS), as well as external vendors. Ensure seamless integration across platforms and technologies.
    • Manage a Website Development team of seven full-time employees. Monitor workloads to ensure capacity is available to deliver high quality digital products for the University's community. Develop work goals and department projects, complete performance assessments.  Recruit, hire, and train direct report(s) as needed.
    • Other duties as assigned


    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field
    • Seven years of related professional experience with a minimum of five years management/supervisory experience
    • Knowledge and experience of creating web/digital strategies
    • Knowledge and understanding of website governance principles, and experience with web design methodologies, prototyping, A/B testing, UX design

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Knowledge and understanding of CMS platforms
    • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Enterprise products (Office 365, Sharepoint, etc)
    • Working knowledge of program/project management software.
    • Knowledge and understanding of .Git HTML,/CSS, Javascript and frontend development best practices
