    JOB SUMMARY

    Reporting to the Director of Prospect Management and Research, the Prospect Research Analyst conducts in-depth prospect research on individuals, corporations and foundations in order to support the work of University Development and Alumni Relations and campus leadership. This position synthesizes, analyzes and disseminates prospect information for major, planned and principal gift prospects.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    1. Identify acquaintances and connectors to our major, planned and principal gift prospects through relationship mapping, using information acquired from development staff, university leadership and external sources.
    2. Conduct in-depth biographical research, including comprehensive wealth analyses for prospects in the major, planned and principal giving pipelines.
    3. Serve as prospect research analyst to gift officers by responding to a variety of complex research requests and updating information on major, planned and principal giving prospects.
    4. Produce high-quality and thorough profiles and briefing documents on individuals, corporations and foundations for strategic use by gift officers and leadership, using industry best practices.
    5. Serve as prospect research liaison for the planned and annual giving teams.
    6. Develop prospect research policies and industry best practices for research, capacity ratings, relationship mapping and reporting. Conduct routine assessment of research vendors and tools. Manage student workers’ research projects and data entry.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, library science or related qualitative research-based discipline
    • Three to five years experience in prospect research, prospect management, development, or an information related field.
