    This opportunity is currently assigned as a 3rd shift position with weekend coverage.



    Under the direction of the Facilities Services Director, the Facilities Services Supervisor is responsible for the coordination of the work activities and supervision of assigned Building Service Workers and student employees as hired by the Facilities Department.  The supervisor establishes daily priorities based on operational needs and communicates any necessary adjustment with their teams.  The supervisor also ensures that the established standards of cleanliness are maintained through routine quality assessments.



    • Work with the Director of Facilities Services to coordinate cleaning activities and project work. Provide updates (verbal and written reports) as requested.  Communicate daily with other supervisors to coordinate shift-cleaning activities, project work, and event set-ups.  Detailed daily communication on the completion statuses are needed during shift transitions.
    • Responsible for meeting departmental staffing objectives by orienting, training, and coaching.  Approve/deny Paid Leave Time (PLT) requests.  Document and provide progressive, corrective action to employees when needed.
    • Communicate with Building Service Workers daily (rounding) to determine their performance, quality of work, productivity and supply needs.  
    • Arrange for an appropriate supply of cleaning materials, equipment and necessary items to ensure the proper performance of housekeeping/cleaning work.
    • Establishes daily priorities based on business needs and available workforce and communicates adjustments to the team.
    • Ensure customer service requests (event set-ups) are completed in a prompt, accurate and professional manner.  Assist in the coordination of major University events such as graduation, Christmas parties and dinners, President's dinner, alumni weekend, homecoming, etc.
    • Complete a documented quality assurance inspection report on each assigned Building Service Worker supervised on at least a monthly basis or in response to a concern.
    • Provide assistance in reporting requests for service via the work order system.  Monitor custodial equipment inventory and evaluate it for proper cleanliness and good working condition. 


    Minimum Qualifications

    • High school diploma
    • Five years or more of experience supervising a custodial/cleaning team

    This opportunity is currently assigned as a 3rd shift position with weekend coverage.


    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience supervising unionized employees
    • Bachelors degree preferred

    Physical Requirements

    • Mobility and stamina to walk and stand for extended periods of time and on various surfaces
    • Ability to work in and move about in varied settings including outdoors
    • Ability to use a computer and standard office equipment
    • Ability to transport up to 50 pounds
    • Ability to work with chemical cleaning agents
    • Ability to travel between various work sites
    • Ability to read printed materials and a computer screen
    • Ability to communicate in person, over the telephone or on a radio
