Overview

The University of St. Thomas invites qualified candidates to apply for a Reporting Specialist position within the Information Technology Services Department.

 

The Reporting Specialist position is responsible for supporting ERP information systems used to develop and disseminate organizational information.  The Reporting Specialist will work to create a knowledge management environment focused on meeting the data and reporting needs of the University community.  This position will be the primary contact for all list requests, assisting with data validation, and supporting financial aid reporting needs.  While the position will be required to report across all modules much of the focus will be on financial aid data.   In addition, the incumbent will work closely with data processing units to improve the data entry, storage, and dissemination of information on behalf of key decision makers. This position will be responsible for supporting compliance related reporting projects, where necessary. IBM Cognos experience and Salesforce experience highly desired.

 

Essential Functions:

1.  Responsible for management and list reports containing current and historical information related to all aspects of student data with primary responsible for student financial aid data reporting. Responsible for assisting senior reporting specialists with compliance reporting, and data validation of compliance reporting. Responsible for developing active reports for increased interactivity with data and information.

 

2.  Responsible for researching and extracting information contained in the Salesforce and the operational data store using the institutional ERP; identifying and reporting inconsistencies with data; working with various departments to develop consistent data entry processes; developing audit reports for academic department personnel to identify discrepancies in data entry.

 

3.  Identifying problems and inconsistencies with data housed in the ODS; assisting information system module administrators with reporting practices using the ERP reporting tools.

 

4.  Develop and maintain critical datasets for use in the data insight and analytics function; serve as a resource and backup for other members of the office, contribute to ongoing office activities through data extraction and troubleshooting.

Qualifications

B.A. or B.S. degree in computer sciences or a related field and 1-3 years of relevant professional experience with information technologies for decision support or business intelligence, (including reporting), within a complex organizational environment and experience with relational databases including IBM Cognos, SQL, and/or Oracle database administration. Experience with Salesforce is preffered. An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted. 

 

Knowledge of: IBM Cognos (Report Studio, Framework Manager, Administration, Workspace Advanced), SQL, TOAD, Access, Excel, and Oracle database administrative and reporting tools
