The University of St. Thomas invites qualified candidates to apply for a Production Artist position within the Marketing, Insights and Communications Department.
The Production Artist performs digital page layout functions (Digital Keylining) using desktop software applications.
1. Review job ticket instructions to determine requirements of job production. Ensure all jobs and materials are properly charged. When handing off jobs to co-workers, clearly communicate any information for them to complete the job.
2. Use required software applications, (CS Suite: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), to perform key-line functions for print and prepare files for digital production.
3. Proof output, (HP inkjets or Color Lasers).
4. Build mock-ups of final files using appropriate substrates.
5. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications: Trade school certificate in graphic arts, printing or an equivalent experience and three years of related work experience. Work experience to include experience working with Macintosh OS, and an in-depth knowledge with the following software applications: Adobe CSF Suite: Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat, Bridge. Basic knowledge of Word and Keynote.
Any equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been acquired.
Knowledge of: Working knowledge of the following software applications: Macintosh OS, Adobe CS5 Suite: Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop. Basic knowledge of Word and Keynote. The ability to press check, and a solid understanding of the printing/digital process. Sound understanding of photography, illustration, and typography.
Skill in: Strong communication skills. Effectively drive and deliver on multiple assignments at one time.
Abilities: Able to work proactively and to apply common sense to carry-out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. The capacity to solve problems involving a number of concrete variables or “given”. The ability to adapt to the requirements of a fast-paced environment, while maintaining strict attention to detail and quality. Ability to create and maintain highly organized server and document files.
